Forum runner is a fantastic app that is available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. The idea of the application is that it will allow you to view forums in a completely new and easy way. Usually, if you want to view a forum on your iPhone or iPod Touch then you would have to go into Safari and navigate to the website, much like you would on a PC or Mac. However, with Forum Runner you can now browse your favourite forum in a fraction of the time!
When you first launch the app you will be presented with the home screen. On this screen you should see two icons; one will say Forum Browser and one will say Forum Runner Support. In order to get started with the app, go ahead and click the forum browser button. Once you click this you will be presented with a new screen that has a list of all the forums in the app’s database. To search for a specific forum you simply need to click the search tab at the bottom of the screen and type in what you are looking for. We did this ourselves and found Triphp (as is shown in the screenshot).
Once you have found the forum you are looking for you will simply need to click on it and then you will be able to browse the forum, right from within the app. Browsing the forum using this application is extremely quick and is much easier than using Safari any day.
Although the application is very simple it is a pleasure to use. It is easy to navigate through any forum you select and view different threads. The screenshot below shows and example of us browsing the Website Design section of the Triphp forum.
The app also has many features including the ability to login to your chosen forum. This is extremely useful and will allow you to do almost anything you need to on the forum, including posting a new thread, replying to a thread and many other things.
Overall, we would highly recommend this application if you browse a lot of forums on a regular basis. There is both a free and paid version of the app available from the app store and so far, the free one has done us just fine. The paid version is available for $1.99 and has a few more features than the free version including free push notifications for the first month. We would recommend that you try the free one first and then if you like it (which we are sure you will), move onto the paid one.[/quote]
