Is het nou al bekend of de winaar van de skull ook een forumlid was....is?????
There were 154 entries to the comp out of 666 maximum entries (we still have a few of them here, paid for, and awaiting dispatch).
- That's a 23% response rate or better - most competitions consider 2% a good response. So over 11x the norm...
- The first guess we received was just 3.9g adrift from the actual weight of the brain, so we thought it may be a close call.
- The lowest guessed weight was 26g.
- The highest guessed weight was 1666g (1.66kg).
- The average guessed weight was 219.79g.
For those interested in 'the making of' Skull Candy, pj has put together a great page here: www.dodojuice.com/ltds/skullcandy/. It gives a behind the scenes look at how the brain was made and why it could never be a commercial proposition - it took about 3 hours per brain...
So... without further ado, the official Master Cranium brain weight was
63.9g
A small, dodo-sized brain, it has to be said. About as much wax as in two panel pots. If you look at the pics of the skull compared to the panel pots, you'll see that it's not that much bigger.
We have two entries that guessed the same (incorrect) close weight of 66g, just 2.1g off the exact weight. Bad luck to those guessing 66.6g as you were very near the mark indeed.
The two tie-breakers, who have been emailed already, are:
Lennart, pot 205
and
Fred, pot 179
Whoever now guesses closest to the Master Cranium OVERALL weight, will win the skull itself. We will announce the details of this final leg of the comp when the guesses are in.
---------------------------------------------------------
OK, the guesses are now in for the total weight of the skull and wax together (ie complete Master Cranium):
They were...
Lennart - 200g
Fred - 511.9g
And the actual weight is
[drum roll]
531.5g
So CONGRATULATIONS to Fred (presumably Feslope?) We will be sending your Master Cranium to you shortly by courier. We will also send Lennart a small something as a runner's up prize, like a PH Pro or Supernatural panel pot etc.
Impressively, Fred's guess was just 2.1g or 3.3% out, for the first guess... and just 19.6g and 3.7% out, for the final tie-breaker guess... if this man tells you what horse will win the Grand National, I'd see a bookie immediately
